Ernest Ansermet conducts L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in this classic 1954 reading of Borodin's Second and Third Symphonies. A Russian Romantic composer, doctor and chemist, Alexander Borodin was a member of "The Mighty Handful" dedicated to a distinctly Russian art music; his Symphony No. 2 in B minor is widely considered the most important large-scale work he completed. This ORG reissue is a 180-gram, 45 RPM gatefold double LP, mastered by Bernie Grundman from the original tapes and pressed at RTI, in a deluxe laminated gatefold jacket limited to 2,500 numbered copies.
