Freddie Hubbard - Backlash - Speakers Corner LP
$41.99
180 Gram Vinyl, All-Analog Mastering
Backlash was Freddie Hubbard's first album for Atlantic, recorded in 1967, and it remains a high point of his catalog. The trumpeter bridges hard bop and soul with three of his own compositions plus material from his bandmates, pushing players like James Spaulding, Albert Dailey, bassist Bob Cunningham and drummer Ray Appleton through constantly shifting rhythms. The standout is 'Little Sunflower,' where flute and brass intertwine beautifully over Ray Barretto's percussion.
