The fourth studio album from the New Orleans powerhouse, Ruckus marked a return to deep funk while pushing into modern, beat-driven territory with producer Dan the Automator. Drawing on the city's "voodoo funk" tradition — the lineage of Dr. John and the Mardi Gras Indians — and channeling the band's storied live energy, it helped cement Galactic as one of America's premier funk-rock-jazz outfits.
