Originally released on Concord in 1978, this masterful meeting of jazz guitar giants Herb Ellis and Remo Palmier has quietly become one of the most collectible albums of its era. Ellis rose through the Oscar Peterson Trio while Palmier appeared on seminal bebop sides with Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie before spending decades in a CBS staff job, which makes Windflower all the more of a treasure. Backed by George Duvivier on bass and Ron Traxler on drums, the pair bring an organic sense of swing and beautifully voiced chords to standards like "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes," "Groove Merchant" and "Danny Boy."
