Recorded live at the legendary Village Gate in November 1961, this album made flutist Herbie Mann a star. The opener "Comin' Home Baby" rocketed onto the charts, while two extended pieces from Gershwin's "Porgy And Bess" give the international, percussion-rich band — including Ahmad Abdul-Malik, Rudy Collins, Hagood Hardy, Ray Mantilla and Chief Bey — plenty of room to stretch out. This Speakers Corner edition was remastered using pure analogue components only, from the master tapes through to the cutting head.
