Formed in January 1969, Humble Pie quickly became one of the best-loved, hardest-rocking live acts of the early 1970s, uniting former Small Faces frontman Steve Marriott, guitar hero Peter Frampton, drummer Jerry Shirley and ex-Spooky Tooth bassist Greg Ridley. As Safe As Yesterday Is was their 1969 debut for Immediate Records, reaching No. 32 in the UK charts with its ground-breaking blend of heavy blues, hard rock, pastoral folk and acoustic songs. After the original master tape was lost in transit and early pressings suffered from poor sound, a safety master was finally located decades later, allowing the album to be newly restored and remastered for this edition on Kenney Jones' Nice Records.
