Blue Note co-founder Francis Wolff recalled first hearing Jimmy Smith at Smalls' Paradise in January 1956: "He was a stunning sight. A man in convulsions, face contorted, crouched over in apparent agony, his fingers flying, his feet dancing over the pedals." Recorded live at the famed Harlem club on November 15, 1957, this set captures the Hammond B3 organ virtuoso in his electrifying element.
