Originally released in 1987 after an eight-year hiatus, Recently finds Joan Baez returning in superb voice, applying her impeccable taste to material by Dire Straits, U2, Peter Gabriel, Johnny Clegg, Dan Penn and Jimmy Webb, alongside two of her own compositions. The title track is a striking Baez original, and "Asimbonanga" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Recording. This hybrid stereo SACD was remastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog tapes and plays in both CD and SACD players.
