Original Jazz Classics celebrates John Coltrane's centennial with this mono edition of Coltrane, the saxophonist's debut as a leader. Originally released on Prestige in 1957, it captures Coltrane alongside Johnnie Splawn, Sahib Shihab, Red Garland, Mal Waldron, Paul Chambers and Albert "Tootie" Heath — a session that already hints at the restless, searching voice that would reshape jazz over the following decade.

This edition is pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI with all-analog mastering from the original tapes at Cohearent Audio, housed in a Stoughton tip-on jacket.
