Originally released in March 1957, 'Round About Midnight was Miles Davis's debut for Columbia Records, taking its name from the Thelonious Monk standard "'Round Midnight." Recorded between 1955 and 1956 with his first great quintet, the album has since been regarded by critics as a masterpiece of the hard bop genre and one of the greatest jazz albums of all time.
