A record weight co-engineered with Mike Latvis of Harmonic Resolution Systems to drain noise out of the LP rather than just hold it down.

MoFi did not simply machine a heavy puck. The Super HeavyWeight was developed in collaboration with Mike Latvis of Harmonic Resolution Systems (HRS), whose proprietary polymer is used here specifically for its noise-absorption behavior. The weight couples the record to the platter and then dissipates the energy that would otherwise stay in the system, meaningfully reducing record groove noise, motor noise and bearing noise at the point where the stylus is trying to read music.

The outer shell is billet-machined from 6061 aluminum, and the underside is a soft polymer so the weight sits on the label without marking it. Mass is a deliberate 367.4 grams — MoFi calls it the optimum weight with respect to applying no strain or stress to a turntable’s motor, bearing or suspension. The claimed payoff is blacker backgrounds, increased inner detail, improved clarity, enhanced microdynamics and greater bass impact.

This is the general-purpose model in MoFi’s two-weight range and the right choice for lighter platters. If your platter is around 5 lbs or heavier, the 495-gram Super HeavyWeight Champion is the one MoFi points you toward.
