If there was ever a group that successfully amalgamated Asian and African music with jazz and classical, it was surely Oregon. Across oboe, English horn, bass clarinet, six- and twelve-string guitars, piano, flugelhorn, percussion, bass, sitar and tabla, Ralph Towner, Paul McCandless, Glen Moore and Collin Walcott conjure a richly colored sound that marks the band's transition from their earlier hippy-ish, country-tinged Vanguard years toward the classic ECM sound. An important contemporary document of the music made between 1970 and 1980. This Speakers Corner edition was remastered using pure analogue components only, from the master tapes through to the cutting head.
