Paul Desmond - Take Ten - Speakers Corner LP
$41.99
180 Gram Vinyl LP
No, not "Take Five" — "Take Ten" is the title of both this LP and its opening number, the 5/4 cousin to Paul Desmond's most famous tune. Recorded for RCA Victor in 1963, the session pairs Desmond's airy alto with guitarist Jim Hall in place of a pianist, lending the quartet a transparent, bossa-nova-tinged sound. From the easygoing originals to standards like "Alone Together" and "Nancy," the playing is relaxed, melodic and full of ideas. The original sleeve famously featured cover art by Andy Warhol.
