Recorded in 1968 but unreleased until 1980, Dance with Death is one of pianist Andrew Hill's most rewarding Blue Note sessions, blending post-bop and the avant-garde with a versatile quintet of Charles Tolliver (trumpet), Joe Farrell (soprano and tenor sax), Victor Sproles (bass) and Billy Higgins (drums). This stereo Tone Poet edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio from the original analog tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI.
