Andrew Hill - Grass Roots - Tone Poet LP
$38.99
180g Vinyl LP, Tone Poet Audiophile Reissue Series
Pianist and composer Andrew Hill recorded Grass Roots in 1968, and it stands as one of the most immediately accessible albums in his prolific Blue Note output. "I want to reach out from myself to make people happy who listen to this," Hill explained. With a quintet featuring Lee Morgan on trumpet, Booker Ervin on tenor saxophone, Ron Carter on bass and Freddie Waits on drums, he delivers five original compositions full of feeling, groove and lyricism, including the title track, the festive "Mira" and the propulsive "Soul Special."
