Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers With Thelonious Monk - Self Titled - LP
$34.99
Expanded 65th Anniversary Edition, 180g Double LP, Mono
In May 1957, Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers went into the studio with Thelonious Monk to record a one-off album for Atlantic — the only time Monk sat in with the Messengers, and his sole appearance on the label. The result is a true meeting of the minds, joining Monk's melodies with Blakey's unshakable swing, featuring Johnny Griffin on tenor sax, Bill Hardman on trumpet and Spanky DeBrest on bass. This 65th Anniversary edition is newly remastered from the original tapes in mono and adds an entire extra disc of mostly-unreleased outtakes.
