Art Pepper Quartet - Modern Art - Tone Poet LP
$38.99
Mono 180g Vinyl, Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series
Recorded in Hollywood across sessions in December 1956 and January 1957, Art Pepper's Modern Art for the Intro label is an exemplar of West Coast jazz, pairing his melodic alto flights with a quartet of Russ Freeman (piano), Ben Tucker (bass), and Chuck Flores (drums). This unfailingly swinging set of originals and standards opens with "Blues In," closes with "Blues Out," and includes sublime takes on "Bewitched," "Stompin' at the Savoy," and "What Is This Thing Called Love."
