[Pre Order] Billy Bragg - Workers Playtime - Red LP *
Release Date: November 27, 2026
Long overdue gatefold reissue on solid red vinyl, remastered from Billy's own master tapes.
Workers Playtime is the fourth album by Billy Bragg, originally released in September 1988. This reissue comes in a gatefold sleeve and was remastered by John Webber at Air Studios using high-resolution transfers made from master tapes in Bragg's archives. Helmed by producer Joe Boyd (Nick Drake, Fairport Convention) and his former Riff Raff bandmate Wiggy, it saw Bragg deliver his most tender and empathetic collection, with a band featuring Danny Thompson on double bass, BJ Cole on pedal steel, Bruce Thomas of the Attractions on bass and Micky Waller on drums. Licking his wounds after another Thatcher victory at the '87 general election, Bragg wrote "Waiting For The Great Leap Forwards," one of his most enduring songs, while the a capella "Tender Comrade" confronts the prejudice of the moral majority.
