Charles Mingus - Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus - Acoustic Sounds Series LP
$38.99
180-Gram Vinyl, Acoustic Sounds Series, Gatefold Tip-On Jacket
Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus was Charles Mingus's last major studio recording of the 1960s and a real treasure in the great bassist's discography. Working with arranger Bob Hammer and an eleven-piece ensemble of brass and saxophones — including Booker Ervin, Eric Dolphy and Jaki Byard — Mingus mostly re-interprets songs from his earlier catalog, alongside the new original "Celia" and a reading of Duke Ellington's "Mood Indigo." Recorded in New York City in 1963.
