Recorded a little more than a year before Count Basie died, Me and You captures the pianist at the heart of the small-group swing he loved. The octet heard here came out of Basie's big band and features bright young trumpeter Bob Summers alongside veteran trombonist Booty Wood and saxophonists Eric Dixon and Chris Woods, with Basie and guitarist Freddie Green anchoring the rhythm. This Analogue Productions reissue was mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab from the original analog master tape, pressed at Quality Record Pressings, and housed in a Stoughton Printing tip-on single pocket jacket.
