Recorded in 1973 for Plantation Records, Texas Moon sat on the shelf until 1977. By the time it surfaced, David Allan Coe had already moved on to Columbia — which leaves this record as a capture of the outlaw's early career, before the legend hardened around him.

Backed by his road band, Coe works through evocative readings of songs written by his heroes: Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Joe Shaver, Jackson Browne and more. This deluxe reissue adds previously unreleased material cut in the same era, including demos of "Revenge" and "Desperados Waiting for a Train."
