Donald Byrd - Byrd Blows on Beacon Hill (Mono) - Tone Poet LP
$38.99
180g Mono Vinyl, Tone Poet Audiophile Reissue — Deluxe Tip-On Jacket
Recorded in 1956 for Tom Wilson's Boston-based Transition Records, Byrd Blows on Beacon Hill presents trumpeter Donald Byrd in a relaxed quartet setting with Doug Watkins (bass), Ray Santisi (piano), and Jim Zitano (drums). Captured on a rainy spring afternoon in a Beacon Hill home, the standards-heavy set has an easygoing, intimate charm, with Byrd at his lyrical best on "Little Rock Getaway," "Polka Dots and Moonbeams," and "Stella by Starlight."
