Hybrid Stereo SACD — plays in all CD and SACD players. Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 Series reissue of Dr. John's 1972 New Orleans tribute.

Dr. John's Gumbo is the fifth album by New Orleans singer and pianist Dr. John, aka The Night Tripper, and it is a wholehearted tribute to the music of his hometown. Released in 1972, it features his interpretations of New Orleans traditionals ("Iko Iko," "Tipitina," "Junko Partner" and "Stack-A-Lee") alongside R&B written or played by the likes of Huey "Piano" Smith ("Blow Wind Blow" and the closing Huey Smith Medley) and Earl King ("Big Chief" and "Those Lonely Lonely Nights").

Dr. John delivers a strong set of infectious songs drenched in good vibes and spiced with a pinch of voodoo, backed by a band that plays this repertoire like it was born to it. His eccentric stage persona adds unique color to his stature as a master of the ivories and as an entertainer. This reissue is part of the Atlantic 75 Series celebrating the 75th anniversary of Atlantic Records.
