On September 15, 1957, John Coltrane recorded his first great masterpiece, Blue Train, at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in Hackensack, New Jersey. This 2-LP stereo Tone Poet edition presents Blue Train: The Complete Masters, adding a second disc of alternate and incomplete takes, four of which were previously unreleased and none of which had appeared on vinyl before. The set was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and comes with a bound booklet of Francis Wolff session photos and an essay by Coltrane expert Ashley Kahn.
