This special 60th Anniversary reissue presents Sun Ra's iconic 1962 album The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra, all-analog remastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI. Recorded in a single day on October 10, 1961, the session captures Ra's early experimental work with a nine-piece band — from the Latin-tinged opener “Bassism” to the four-saxophone improvisation of “What's That?” The package includes Tom Wilson's original liner notes plus new essays by jazz historian Ben Young and Irwin Chusid.
