Thelonious Monk Quartet Plus Two - At the Blackhawk - Analogue Productions LP
Analogue Productions 180g Vinyl — Mastered AAA by Kevin Gray, Pressed at QRP
Recorded live at San Francisco's famed Blackhawk in 1960, At the Blackhawk finds Thelonious Monk expanding his working quartet (Monk on piano, Charlie Rouse on tenor sax, John Ore on bass, Billy Higgins on drums) into a sextet with two of the West Coast's most impressive horn men — trumpeter Joe Gordon and tenor saxophonist Harold Land. The vibrant performance showcases the group's remarkable chemistry and improvisational prowess, with Land's horn adding a deeply soulful edge. This reissue was mastered AAA by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Quality Record Pressings.
