A Different Kind of Truth is Van Halen's twelfth and final studio album and their first with David Lee Roth since 1984. It is also their only studio album recorded without bassist Michael Anthony; Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang took his place, making this his only studio album with the band. Seven of its 13 songs are reworked and rewritten versions of songs demoed in the late 1970s to early 1980s but never officially released. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified Gold.
