The Planar 2 was developed over two years alongside the latest Planar 3 — featuring the RB220 tonearm, a new 24 V low noise motor, acrylic high gloss laminated plinth and newly designed central bearing, every feature is designed to extract the maximum amount of information and detail from your vinyl collection.

The stunning walnut effect finish is supplied with the smoked dustcover as standard (other finishes are supplied with the clear dustcover).

Update May 2024: Now available with the new Nd3 moving magnet cartridge factory fitted. Our store may still have inventory of the legacy Planar 2 model, so choose the product with the Nd3 option for the latest model.

RB220 Tonearm

The RB220 tonearm is packed with groundbreaking features designed to enhance performance and make setup extremely simple. It incorporates Rega-designed ultra-low friction bearings (patent pending), housed within a stiffer, lightweight bearing housing with updated adjustable bias allowing greater flexibility and compatibility with a wide range of cartridges. The housing also includes an integrated arm clip and uses Rega's latest custom aluminium arm tube. A Rega Carbon cartridge is supplied as standard for simple plug and play convenience.

Plinth, Platter and Bearing

The high gloss acrylic or walnut effect laminated plinth is stiffer, with vastly improved appearance and an ergonomically positioned power switch. A new float glass 'Optiwhite' 10 mm platter improves accuracy, riding on an 11 mm self-securing brass bearing (patent pending) that offers improved fit and less stress on the bearing, preventing the transfer of potential energy. Redesigned feet increase stability and reduce vibration transfer.

Motor and Setup

A new 24 V low noise, low vibration motor assembly with a new PCB. A dust cover and plinth protectors are supplied to prevent marks on the plinth, and an easy-to-use multi-lingual quick start guide makes setup simple.
