Sam Moore and Dave Prater's hits are among the most soulful ever to crack the Hot 100, and this 1966 set was their second album to enjoy major crossover appeal. Backed by the Stax house band and powered by Isaac Hayes and David Porter songs, it brought the sound of the Black gospel church straight into pop music. Sam & Dave are members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame and the Memphis Music Hall of Fame.
