All-Analog 180g Tone Poet Pressing — Mastered by Kevin Gray from the Original Master Tape, Pressed at RTI

Saxophonist and flutist Sam Rivers followed his striking debut Fuchsia Swing Song with the tremendous Contours, recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's Englewood Cliffs studio in 1965 with a top-flight band: Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Herbie Hancock on piano, Ron Carter on bass, and Joe Chambers on drums. Across four of Rivers' own compositions the quintet pushes from modal jazz toward freer, more open territory while keeping a foot firmly planted in post-bop. This Blue Note Tone Poet edition is all-analog, mastered directly from the original master tape.
