All of the music on this Soul Jazz Records collection was created by Brazilian artists living and working in the USA during the 1970s. In the wake of bossa nova, figures like Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, Sérgio Mendes, Eumir Deodato and João Donato found new freedom collaborating with North American jazz musicians — from Miles Davis to Weather Report — fusing Brazilian rhythms with American jazz. The deluxe gatefold edition comes complete with extensive sleeve notes tracing the path from Brazil to the USA.
