Soul Jazz Records' Life Between Islands explores the most important Black British musical styles to emerge from the Caribbean-rooted world of sound systems, spanning roots reggae, lovers rock, jazz-funk, jungle/drum & bass, jazz and dubstep. Released in conjunction with Tate Britain's exhibition of the same name, it features an all-star line-up including Dennis Bovell, Cymande, Shut Up and Dance, Digital Mystikz, Janet Kay and The Ragga Twins, tracing how these interconnected styles defined Black British identity from 1973 to 2006.
