Recognizable within two notes, Stanley Turrentine was Mr. Soul Jazz — a master at caressing a melody, making it his own, and turning any song into the blues. There is plenty of evidence of his brilliance throughout the warm and bluesy Comin' Your Way (recorded 1961, released 1987), which finds him leading a top-flight quintet featuring his brother Tommy Turrentine, Horace Parlan, George Tucker, and Al Harewood.
