The eleventh studio album by American soul quintet The Temptations, Puzzle People was released in 1969 and produced entirely by Norman Whitfield. Expanding on the psychedelic-soul sound of Cloud Nine, it pairs a few soul ballads with Sly & the Family Stone- and James Brown-derived proto-funk, including the number-one Billboard Pop hit "I Can't Get Next to You." The album spent fifteen weeks atop the R&B Albums chart.
