An American Treasure is a career-spanning Tom Petty box set built from dozens of previously unreleased recordings, alternate versions of classics, rarities, historic live performances and deep cuts that span Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Petty's solo work and Mudcrutch. All 60 recordings were remastered by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, and the set includes a 48-page booklet with track-by-track liner notes by Bud Scoppa and an essay by Nicholas Dawidoff.
