Gathered around Rudolf Serkin, the musicians give a joyous, folk-like reading of Brahms's Liebeslieder-Walzer — the composer's charming vocal waltzes of love and longing in ¾ time. The program is complemented by Schubert's late masterpiece The Shepherd on the Rock, sung with brilliant musicality by soprano Benita Valente and graced by the work's distinctive solo clarinet. This Speakers Corner LP was remastered using pure analogue components only.
