Chicago's grand tenor man Earle Lavon "Von" Freeman Sr. (1923-2012) was a revered and most loved elder of the Windy City jazz scene. Producer Nils Winther long wanted to record him, and the dream came true in the spring of 1992 when Von was in his late sixties. His powerful tenor is tastefully supported by his trusted rhythm section of Jodie Christian (piano), Eddie de Haas (bass) and Wilbur Campbell (drums), an excellent introduction to the Chicago style of tenor playing.
