Pinkerton is Weezer's second studio album, released in 1996. Self-produced to capture a rawer, more abrasive live sound than their 1994 debut, the record finds Rivers Cuomo channeling disillusionment with the rock lifestyle into deeply personal songwriting, taking its title and themes from Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly. Initially divisive, it is now widely regarded as a cult classic.
