This excellent 1965 album from the always-versatile Yusef Lateef runs the gamut musically, from the Coltrane-influenced "Semiocto" to soulful reads of standards by Hammerstein/Kern, Fats Waller, and Erik Satie, plus the beautifully rendered original "Bamboo Flute Blues." Lateef (tenor saxophone, flute, oboe) is joined by Georges Arvanitas on piano, Reggie Workman on bass, and James Black on drums. The Verve By Request Series features transfers from the analog tapes, remastered on 180-gram vinyl and pressed at Third Man in Detroit.
